Internet Millionaire Mishaps – I’m so over it!
Today I am flying high! For no other reason than I FINISHED MY INSIDER SECRETS VIDEO!!!!!
Grab yourself a bottle of bubbly and come celebrate with me!
Producing part 2 of my Internet Millionaires Summit Insider Secret Report turned into an absolute NIGHTMARE, but finally the dawn has come and I’ve woken up!
If you would like to view the results of my 168-hour labour (no, the video isn’t that long, but that’s how long it took me, on-and-off, to finally nail this thing).
And if you haven’t already signed up for FREE access – then do so now - there’s some powerful content in this thing (otherwise I might just have given up!)
Just briefly, I’d like to run you through my (painful) process:
- I prepared a series of powerpoint slides summarising part 2 of my notes from the Millionaires Summit.
- I sat down in front of my PC and opened CamstudioPro (a screen capture software system by Dave Guindon).
- I pressed the record button on the software and waxed lyrical giving audio to the slideshow.
- One hour and twenty minutes later I pressed STOP! (the nightmare begins)
- The video file produced was an ‘.avi’ file. I converted this (after some trial and much error) into a ‘.flv’ file.
- Again, using CamstudioPro, I created an HTML page to house the video and produced some page code to use if I chose to embed it.
- I chose to embed it on my blog as a landing page (HUGE mistake!)
- The video loaded but wouldn’t play.
- Hubbie said to re-record the slideshow in smaller chunks. I said no.
- I asked a techie friend, we met, shared screens and agreed the file was WAY too large, but he should be able to ‘crunch it down’ from the .avi to a smaller .flv and stream it on his server for me.
- The crunch came (after many hours) – the web page was built – the video played – for 20 seconds and then stopped!
- I pulled my hair out.
- We tried this – we tried that (more hours here, more hours there) – then he gave up and went to build a swimming pool in his garden (’twas what the wife wanted!)
- More hair loss.
- Hubbie suggested again (strongly) – why not re-record the video in smaller pieces, if I had done that already, my problems would be over by now – I refused again (less strongly this time).
- BING! Sudden Realisation 1! Why not split the original video file into smaller chunks – but how?
- I attempted to use Windows Movie Maker – it split the file all right, but wanted me to burn it onto a CD! Nope! That was not quite part of the plan.
- BING BONG! Sudden Realisation 2! CamstudioPro had a partner program within the software called STOIK! And the STOIK pro version ….split files! On it!
- I paid £25 for the pro version, used it to split the original file into 6 pieces, rendered the split files as individual .flv files, went back to the Camstudio web wizard, re-created individual htm pages to house the videos, uploaded the whole shabang onto my server and Voila! Simples! (Not!)
- For a copy of the end result, please enter your name and email in the box to your right!
Sit back and enjoy. Ciao!
ps. The main learning point for me, (newbie as I was) was to upload ALL the files produced from the web page wizard – including the video file, the htm page, the video frame and code (4 files for each video). If I had understood this properly from the outset, maybe I could have been swimming in the pool with my friends all week instead of making my home look more like a barber-shop’s floor.
pps. If you want to ask me any question on video production, or want to know more about the software that I used, please pop a comment in the box.
Jaycee
